The problem of “Party Houses”

Yesterday I interviewed Cllr Geoffrey Bowden (Queens Park Green councillor) for Radio Free Brighton on the issue of “Party Houses”.

Up to 250 houses in the City are now rented out at weekends by their owners for stag/hen parties. Sometimes this is fine and causes no problems. But often, the numbers crammed into the houses break fire regulations, and frequently the noise from these party houses causes misery for local residents who live nearby.

It is a growing problem across the City and the Council’s Scrutiny Committee will shortly be issuing a report after hearing evidence from people affected by the issue.
