I’ve just been to see the anti-fascist exhibition at the Level – well done to the organisers ! Later this month, the English Defence League plan to march in Brighton. This exhibition is a reminder of why we need to oppose them. My favourite slogan was: “Brighton embraces, but we draw the line at racists”!

Say No To Ovingdean Development!

I visited Ovingdean again today to discuss with the Save Our Deans campaigners how best to oppose this inappropriate development.

Previously, I visited the exhibition being put on by the developers wishing to build over 100 new homes in the area off Ovingdean Road. I discussed the plans with the developers and met the local residents organising a petition against it. I decided that their opposition was justified and legitimate – I signed the petition. They told me I was the first parliamentary candidate from Kemptown to visit the exhibition and take a public stance.

That’s what the headlines after last Thursday’s budget should have said.

However the media were nearly all headlining a “pensioners budget”. Even the Guardian‘s headline was “Vote Blue Go Grey”. This headline and others like it are as big a lie as the “Vote Blue Go Green pledge of the Tories before the last election!

Frack Free Zone Public Meeting

This is a recording of a very successful public rally against Fracking, held in Brighton during the trial of Caroline Lucas MP and other defendants from a protest in Balcombe the previous summer. The rally brought together all the main anti-fracking groups across Sussex.
